Overview
«wikiPid» is a pilot project by the Political International Development Studies Student Association (PIDSSA).
The goal of this project is to create a comprehensive guidebook for students studying in the programs represented by PIDSSA: International Development and Globalization, International Studies and Modern Language, Political Science, and Public Administration.
By combining the collective knowledge of the student community, wikiPid will collect knowledge on various aspects of the campus, academic, and student experience. By sharing and storing this information together, present and future students will have a repository of information related to their program that will help all of us make the most of our experience here.
Project fundamentals
- wikiPid follows a model of collaboration and open-editing. Members are encouraged to contribute in any way they can by adding to existing articles, or by creating new articles.
- wikiPid content should provide information pertaining to the student experience of members. Articles should cover general topics of interest to students at large. This could include information about programs, courses, campus groups, events, procedures, and so on. Articles should not be based on:
- particular sections of a particular course
- individuals students, professors, administrators, or any other person</li
- assignments, projects, examinations, or other evaluations
- personal issues, anecdotes, comments, or complaints about courses, people, and processes
- wikiPid content should be written with the intent to assist peers and offer useful and accurate information. Articles should be of a neutral tone, and should reflect factual information obtained through the most effective channel possible. Effective sources could include the University website, personal experiences, and so on. Where possible and helpful, contributors should note the source of their contribution in a footnote that links to a source online, tells readers where they could verify the information, or briefly explain how the contributor is aware of the fact.

Conduct and Etiquette
Contributors, readers, members, and users all have equal rights to be respected while they use wikiPid. As a rule of thumb, assume good faith in that everyone is here for the same reason (to improve our student experience). Although there are no formal rules or codes of conduct, users should strive to be civil and constructive.
Content that is questionable, offensive, irrelevant, of a personal nature, or in violation of copyright or law will be removed by the admin or another user. If you find any of this content, you may message an administrator, or discuss the issue constructively on its 'talk' page.
Content Disclaimer
Even as all content is published with the best of intentions, the PIDSSA, administrators, and contributors cannot take responsibility for the accuracy of any information posted here. In general, especially for material related to your academic program, or other personally important matters, you should always verify any information with an official source or someone authorized to confirm such information in your particular case.
Consider the accuracy of content here to be generally similar to information you might get from a classmate or stranger on campus; even with the best intentions, it's always best to check if information is current and applicable to you.
Language Policy
WikiPid's interface is available equally in French and English. Where possible, official pages and notes will have matching language equivalents.
As content pages are created, edited, and removed at the will of the community, it is not possible to provide consistent and official translation of all material. Thus, it is possible and likely that some material will be available in one language, but not another. Similarly, it is possible that the style and quality of either language in any article will not be perfect, and that content might not match in different languages, in different parts of the site.
You can help by proofreading and correcting articles, and by translating or adding content in the other language. Websites such as Google Translate and Word Reference.com are popular tools to help you read and write in your second language.
